This is it. After years of dreaming, I have finally landed for my first South African archaeological dig! Situated in the small touristic town of Mossel Bay I will be excavating with a large team of archaeologists from all backgrounds. Here we will continue the search for evidence of the oldest instances of marine foraging, ochre use, production of microlithic material and heat treatment on stone tools. With stratigraphy dating as far back as 90,000 years ago, we will be using geographic information systems to help recreate 3D mapping images of the site and material discovered.
